Sedum takesimense 'Atlantis' is a striking variegated stonecrop, prized for its bold contrast of deep green leaves edged with wide, creamy-yellow margins. This low-growing, evergreen succulent forms compact rosettes, creating a dense and eye-catching ground cover. The serrated foliage remains vibrant throughout summer and autumn, maintaining its appeal across the seasons. Adding further interest, new leaf buds emerge a rich cherry red, while pale pink flower buds open into clusters of bright yellow star-shaped flowers in summer, attracting pollinators to the garden.
Native to Korea, Sedum takesimense 'Atlantis' thrives in sunny, well-draining conditions, often found nestled among coastal rocks where it endures heat, humidity, and occasional drought with ease. In cultivation, it performs best in full sun and neutral to slightly acidic soils, making it an excellent choice for rock gardens, green roofs, coastal plantings, or as a striking accent in contemporary pots. Reaching 10–15 cm in height and spreading 25–30 cm, it forms a lush mat that softens hardscapes and suppresses weeds.
With its cold tolerance down to -10°C, this tough yet beautiful Sedum is well-suited to Australian gardens, adding long-lasting texture and colour. Whether cascading over a retaining wall, filling in gaps between stepping stones, or brightening up a patio in a stylish grey pot, Sedum takesimense 'Atlantis' delivers year-round interest with minimal effort.
