Graptopetalum 'Mirinae' variegata is a charming and delicate succulent that produces rosettes of small fleshy leaves, which are a beautiful combination of shades of light green and blue with white to cream leaf margins. When mature, this plant produces extreme variegated heads in white or pale yellow, and even some pure bright yellow heads, which are striking in contrast to the main plant. It is a slow-growing plant that needs to be carefully handled as its leaves are easily dislodged. However, the leaves are quick to propagate, and many new plants can be produced from leaves, though it is a slow process.
Graptopetalum 'Mirinae' variegata prefers lots of sunlight, especially in the morning, but it should be protected from the hot afternoon sun during summer. It requires gritty porous soil with excellent drainage, and it should be watered regularly during the summer months, allowing the soil to dry out between waterings. Minimal watering is required over winter to avoid root rot, which can be caused by overwatering. Fertilization should only occur once during the growing season with a balanced fertilizer diluted to ¼ strength.
Graptopetalum 'Mirinae' variegata is generally easy to propagate by seeds, leaves, or offsets. Any rosette that breaks off has the potential to root and start a new plant. Even a leaf that drops off will root below the parent plant and produce a new rosette quickly. The new plant feeds off the leaf until it shrivels up and falls off. By then, the new baby plant had rooted and sprouted new leaves.
This plant is likely a nursery hybrid, but its origins are unknown. It is a dainty plant that requires care when handling, and it rewards the grower with its beautiful colors and textures. It is best grown slowly, not overwatered, or overfed. Limiting its root space and providing just enough nutrient to keep it healthy is recommended to keep it compact and vibrant. When mature, this plant's stems thicken up, forming a solid structure supporting many chubby small heads of varying colors, making it perfect for hanging baskets or small pots.
Overall, Graptopetalum 'Mirinae' variegata is a stunning succulent that requires minimal care and rewards the grower with its beautiful colors and textures. It is an excellent addition to any succulent collection or arrangement and is sure to bring joy and beauty to any space it occupies.
Please note: The leaves on this plant are quite sensitive to touch and can fall off easily if knocked. We will do our utmost to ensure this is kept at a minimum but it is practically inevitable that some leaves will have dropped by the time you have it unpacked, so please consider before purchasing. Fortunately this plant does propagate easily from leaves. Not all will be great variegates, but still worth doing.
