I already have a couple of these cacti and would totally recommend it. It is strong, healthy and doesn’t seem to ever attract any pests or disease.
Haworthia coarctata – Slender Column Form is a fascinating architectural succulent, distinguished by its tall, narrow columns of tightly overlapping green leaves. Its unusual upright appearance and finely textured foliage make it a particularly appealing choice for collectors of distinctive Haworthias.
The outstanding feature of this form is its strongly upright growth habit. Firm, triangular leaves overlap in a dense spiral arrangement along elongated stems, producing slender columns with an attractive, almost braided appearance. Their pointed tips create intricate patterns, particularly around the fresh green growing points.
As the plant matures, additional stems develop around the base, gradually forming a cluster of columns at different heights. Older stems may eventually develop a gentle lean, while younger offsets continue to emerge. Each specimen develops its own individual arrangement, making mature plants especially interesting to collect.
Haworthiopsis coarctata is a highly variable succulent, with cultivated forms displaying remarkably different growth habits. Some produce elongated, tightly stacked stems, while others develop relatively open rosettes that spread outwards into broad clusters.
Our Haworthiopsis coarctata is an excellent example of the latter, forming flatter, more open rosettes with numerous offsets. Although the two forms look surprisingly different, both share the characteristic raised whitish tubercles on their leaves, an attractive feature that helps reveal their botanical relationship.
The leaves are generally rich green, with lighter tones appearing around the actively growing tips. Numerous small, raised white tubercles decorate their surfaces, creating an attractive spotted texture that becomes increasingly noticeable as the plant develops.
Stronger sunlight or drier growing conditions may encourage bronze, reddish or purplish tones, while plants grown in gentler light generally retain a fresher green appearance. These natural variations add subtle colour interest to the distinctive foliage.
Originally classified as Haworthia coarctata, this South African succulent is now botanically recognised as Haworthiopsis coarctata. It originates from the Eastern Cape region of South Africa and belongs to a group of closely related succulents known for their firm leaves and distinctive surface markings.
Mature plants may produce slender flower stalks carrying small, pale tubular flowers. Although the flowers are delicate, the foliage remains the plant's principal ornamental feature.
This hardy succulent performs well in bright light and can adapt to some direct sunlight. Plants previously grown in sheltered conditions should be acclimatised gradually to stronger light. Adequate light helps maintain firm, healthy growth without excessive stretching.
Grow in a free-draining succulent potting mix and water thoroughly when required, allowing the growing medium to dry appropriately between waterings. Avoid prolonged waterlogging, particularly during cooler weather when the soil takes longer to dry.
Good airflow and protection from prolonged cold, wet conditions will help maintain healthy growth. Established offsets may be separated for propagation or left attached to develop naturally.
With its distinctive upright habit and attractive foliage, Haworthia coarctata – Slender Column Form makes an unusual addition to decorative pots and specialist succulent collections.

The plant you receive may therefore vary from the product images depending on the season, its stage of growth and current growing conditions. These natural variations are part of the character of living plants and do not affect their quality or health.
