Sedeveria 'Pudgy'
Sedeveria 'Pudgy' is a compact hybrid with short, exceptionally fleshy leaves arranged into dense rosettes. It is reported as a hybrid of Echeveria derenbergii and Sedum clavatum, producing particularly plump, rounded foliage with a soft glaucous appearance.
Short, Plump Foliage
'Pudgy' is characterised by its thick, short leaves, which range from rounded to slightly pointed and terminate in a small red tip. A powdery farina gives the foliage its soft blue-green to grey-green appearance and is easily marked by handling, so the leaves are best touched as little as possible.
Colour varies considerably with growing conditions. During active growth the foliage can be predominantly pale green to blue-green, while stronger light, cooler temperatures and seasonal stress can bring out pink, peach and reddish tones, particularly toward the leaf tips.
Compact, Clustering Growth
As plants mature, they produce additional rosettes and can gradually develop into dense clusters. The short, closely packed leaves give established plants a particularly compact appearance, with numerous small rosettes eventually forming together.
'Pudgy' shares the same reported parentage and characteristically thick foliage as Sedeveria 'Vanilla Bis', but the two are clearly distinct cultivars. 'Pudgy' develops smaller, particularly short and rounded leaves and a different overall rosette form, while 'Vanilla Bis' generally produces larger leaves with more pronounced red edging.
Growing Sedeveria 'Pudgy'
Grow in a free-draining succulent mix with good airflow and plenty of light to maintain dense, compact growth and encourage stronger colouring. Allow the growing medium to dry appropriately between waterings and avoid prolonged wet conditions around the roots. Plants grown under softer conditions should be acclimatised gradually when moved into substantially stronger sunlight.

Succulents naturally change in colour, size and form throughout the year. Many develop richer colours and more compact growth during periods of seasonal stress, particularly through cooler months and brighter conditions, while warmer or lower-light conditions may produce greener, softer growth.
The plant you receive may therefore vary from the product images depending on the season, its stage of growth and current growing conditions. These natural variations are part of the character of living plants and do not affect their quality or health.
Pickup is available in Seville, Yarra Valley VIC by appointment. Order online as normal and any shipping charge will be automatically refunded after collection, unless you would prefer to receive an additional plant of similar value instead.
