Sedeveria 'Vanilla Bis'
Sedeveria 'Vanilla Bis' is a compact, freely clustering hybrid with thick, fleshy leaves arranged into rounded rosettes. It is widely reported as a hybrid of Echeveria derenbergii and Sedum clavatum, combining a defined rosette form with particularly substantial, glaucous foliage.
Thick Foliage & Red Edges
The leaves are pale green to blue-green and covered with a powdery farina that gives the plant its soft, frosted appearance. Under stronger light, pink to red colouring develops along the leaf margins and tips, creating a distinct contrast against the paler foliage. Colour intensity varies with light, temperature, watering and the plant's stage of growth.
The farina is easily marked by handling, so the foliage is best touched as little as possible.
Compact, Clustering Growth
'Vanilla Bis' produces offsets readily and can develop into substantial clusters containing numerous closely packed rosettes. Individual rosettes remain compact, while older plants gradually become broader and more densely filled as new growth develops around established heads.
Although it shares the same reported parentage and characteristically thick foliage as Sedeveria 'Pudgy', 'Vanilla Bis' is a clearly distinct cultivar, developing larger leaves, more pronounced red edging and a different overall rosette form. We also grow Sedeveria 'Vanilla Bis' Variegata, which develops cream to yellow variegation through the foliage.
Growing Sedeveria 'Vanilla Bis'
Grow in a free-draining succulent mix with good airflow and plenty of light to maintain compact growth and encourage the characteristic red edging. Avoid prolonged wet conditions around the roots, allowing the growing medium to dry appropriately between waterings. Plants grown under softer conditions should be acclimatised gradually when moved into substantially stronger sunlight.

The plant you receive may therefore vary from the product images depending on the season, its stage of growth and current growing conditions. These natural variations are part of the character of living plants and do not affect their quality or health.
Pickup is available in Seville, Yarra Valley VIC by appointment. Order online as normal and any shipping charge will be automatically refunded after collection, unless you would prefer to receive an additional plant of similar value instead.
